DARWIN here we come
We have been travelling a lot around the east coast lately looking for work and have now decided to leave Queensland and make the long journey to the Northern Territory. After our birthday we were one week in Tully were we had bad luck with the bananas. Tully is a place where there should be work around the year. The problem was that there had been a cyclone a year ago and the banana industry hasn't fully recovered yet so we had to be on vacation all the time. How hard can life be ;)
After Tully we went back south to Ayr where everybody said that there would be a lot of work. The only problem was that there were even more workers. The place where we stayed promised to organise us work but after a couple of days we didn't have anything else than their promises of work. Already bored of lying at the swimming pool all day we just started to call around to local farmers and soon we had more work than we were able to do with eggplants, watermelons and honeydew.
After a week of work in Ayr we came north to say farewell to my travelmate Piritta (also known as Pirot or Steve). We had a party last friday when Piritta came from her diving trip to the reef. Aino and Petteri from Finland were there as well as Roisin from England. We had a lot of fun playing drinking games, eating pizza and later on going out dancing and drinking champaign in the vip-area of the bar. The next day we were just sleeping and also did what we came here for - which was the farewell.
Today we decided that we are going to Darwin. Aino and Petteri are joining us on this long trip. It is approximately 4000kms' from Cairns so it will take a while. We are planning to work there as well in the watermelonindustry (our favorite).
I will write more when we get to our next destination. To all of you up in the north enjoy the summer while we are trying to escape from the winter here. Cheers :)
