Home is behind, the world ahead..

Allright I think that it is about time for me to update my blog and tell about things that have happened lately. After travelling in Asia in February I came back to Australia. I stayed one week at Piritta's place in Sydney. In Sydney we saw the Mardi Gras in the beginning of March.

After that I went with two Chilean guys to Griffith to pick oranges. In Griffith we lived in a big house and had the freedom to work as much as we wanted to. The problem was that orange picking is contract work, which means that you get paid by the amount that you pick. Well we worked a lot but it was not a good deal since you get paid 50 $ per 1000 kilos of oranges. The place was also full of flies who just love to come in to your mouth and eyes.. very, very annoying. There are also a lot of thorns in orange threes, which does not make the job easier. The only nice thing was you had the possibility of being in the shadows under the threes (it was usually over 30c) and we also saw a couple of cangaroos in the field.

After a week of oranges and flies we decided to go to Bundaberg. This meant approximately 1500kms of driving and sleeping a night in the tent next to the road. Now we have been a month in Bundaberg and I have mainly been working with watermelons. Today I was working with sweet potatoes and tomorrow I will be going nuts. More specifically I will be packing macadamia nuts. This is nice since I have only been working with guys at the watermelonfarm and tomorrow I will have some girls to chat with.

As winter is coming the watermelon season is soon over here and we have to start thinking about where to go to next. I want to get a second year visa and to be able to get that I have to work 7 weeks more in some farm. At the moment that would mean going to the north where it is warmer, but I still have 5 months left of my current visa so that means that I could do something else in between. Will see what happens.

Another important thing to me is that I met a boy here. We have been travelling together for a while now and hopefully that will continue. This is also a explanation for why I chose the title for this chapter because I hope that the world is ahead. Btw these are the lyrics from a song in the movie LOTR. I need to go now but please check out the latest pics.
