Back on the West Island of NZ..

..or as the locals call it Australia. We came back to Sydney a week ago on Tuesday. I haven't really had time to update my blog since we have been looking for work here in Australia and spending a lot of time sending cv's to different recruitement agencies. Piritta got a job last week and I got one this week. I will be starting next Monday at E*trade and I'll be working in the customer service there. On Monday I will have training concerning stocks, bonds etc. and on Tuesday I should be ready to work. Sounds really interesting and challenging.

We have also tried to look for an appartment here in Sydney but so far we haven't found anything nice. So we still live in a hostel with a bunch of monkeys.. We moved into another hostel on Tuesday which is a lot cheaper than the first one. The only good thing about our present hostel is that it is located in Woolloomooloo (the name is just so funny). When I went there on Tuesday with all our packings and started to make the bed I found a dead cockroach on the floor. Those who know me are aware of the fact that there is probably nothing in the world that I hate as much as cockroaches (well of course also war, racism and drugs etc.). So I totally freaked out and went to the reception to ask for another room. The receptionist just answered to me: You'r in Sydney now baby..when he saw the unhappy look on my face he let us move to another room.

The last week in New Zealand was very nice as well. From Quenstown we went to Christchurch and flew back north to Auckland. Christchurch was a bit boring in my opinion, but we also went to Kaikoura for whalewatching. It was a really nice day. We saw sperm whales, dolphins and seals. In Christchurh there was a drinking competition at our hostel and you would probably not be surprised to hear that a Finnish man won it. We didn't take part in the competition.

The wheather here in Sydney hasn't been that good so there hasn't yet been any reason to go to the beach. Everyone has been talking about the major drought here in Australia, but it seems that we brought the rain with us. We have been going out a bit and on Tuesday when there was the famous Melbourne Cup we also went to a bar/restaurant. Melbourne Cup is a horse race and in the place where we went to they had a cockroach race that evening... Next weekend there will be a Mexican party at the bar of our previous hostel so we have to find a store where we can buy a sombrero ;) and go to the fiesta.

I'll probably have to get going now, but if you want call me or send sms you can reach me at my Australian phonenumber. Just send me an e-mail and I can give you the number. I have also got a local bank account if you feel like sending me money ;) och samma pa svenska.
